This Is Us | Flutterby Designs

Hi everyone!
I am here today to share my latest design team project created for Flutterby Designs - a fun mixed media scrapbook layout featuring the 'Happily Ever After' collection and a photo of my hubby and I.

I started my page by creating my background on a sheet of white cardstock. (I used Bazzill Marshmallow so that it could handle the wet media.) First, I applied some Colour Blast Colour Artist Inks - 'Cranberry', followed by 'Slipper'. I added some extra water to move them freely around the page and help them to blend. I then dried it off with a heat gun before going back and splattering clean water over the top with a brush to take out some colour; leaving it to sit for a minute before soaking it up with some paper towel.

I then added some Flutter Colour paints - a touch of Cotton Candy Pink, as well as Sunshine Yellow; which I spread randomly on top with a brayer. After that had dried, I went back with some Arctic White and brayered some (more heavily this time) to pull the colour right back where my photo was going to be placed.

For the final layer in my background, I wanted to add some subtle detail and texture, so I used  the 'Happily Ever After' stencil with Colour Blast 'Snow White' Colour Paste before setting it aside to dry thoroughly.
Look at the gorgeous shimmer...

With my background complete, it was time to add some papery layers on top. I used 'Happily Ever After' Everyday Etc filler cards, cut into various sized pieces to create a layered photo mat before adding my photo on top. I also tucked one of the coordinating 'Happily Ever After' page tabs in behind my photo and secured it with a staple.

I used some torn pieces of the lip printed washi tape from the 'Happily Ever After' Kit - placing my "kisses" randomly around my page. The title piece for my page "this is us documented" was cut from one of the 'Happily Ever After' Everyday Etc cards.

I used a variety of heart stickers from the 'Happily Ever After' Sticky Quotes sheet scattered around the page. Also from the same sheet was the you+me=love sticker, which I popped up on some foam tape next to my photo, along with the for ever and ever banner.

I love adding elements directly onto my photos. Here I added the together sticker in the corner of my photo, and then the you+me phrase sticker below it. (The Sticky Quote sheets always have a great variety of stickers to use, and they stretch a long way too!)
The final embellishment I added was the you are the bacon to my eggs flair button from the 'Happily Ever After' Flair Button Set 1

To finish my page I added a few small splatters of blue mist and I was done.
Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. If you haven't seen the new A5 display folders or the stencils and page kits that were recently added to the Flutterby store, head over HERE to see whats new.
I will be back again soon with another project to share. Until then, happy scrapping! X

I Like You | Flutterby Designs

Hi everyone!
Today I am here to share a recent mixed media layout I created for Flutterby Designs featuring Flutter Colour Paints, a NEW Flutterby stencil and lots of bits and pieces from my Flutterby stash. (I love the fact I have been able to use up lots of bits and pieces lately!)

I started my page with my photo, which was taken at the Flutterby Designs 'Create by the Lake' retreat last year. (I actually can't believe I hadn't documented this one yet!) It features four members of the 2017 design team, along with our boss lady Neet, and was taken at the end of some paint throwing fun.

Inspired by the paint splattered board in the photo, I pulled out my Flutter Colour paints and painted an abstract background. The colours I used were Fire Engine Red; Yellow Zest; Orange Goldfish and Tropicana Teal. (I also used a tiny splash of a Dina Wakley navy paint.)

I then took the new 'Arty Farty' stencil; Staz On black ink and a sponge dauber and applied the words from the stencil around my page. (I used washi tape to mask off sections of the stencil as I moved it around.)
I also added a few torn strips of one of the 'Happily Ever After' filler cards.

Once my background was complete, I cut a piece from the 'Blanket Thief' 12x12" paper from the 'Happily Ever After' collection; and used it as a mat under my photo. I also cut some smaller strips of the same paper which I placed between some of the stencilled words on my page.

On the corner of my photo I stapled a tab from the 'Partners in Crime' page tabs sheet. I also added a white Tiny Sticky Quote; and behind the photo I tucked a cute little guinea pig sticker from the 'Furever Friends' Sticky Quote sheet.

I figured this was a good chance to use up a few random bits from my stash, so I added the converse sneaker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Die Cut Bits & Bobs pack alongside my photo. My title, which I applied directly onto my photo, was cut from one of the 'Partners in Crime' Everyday Etc cards. (This is an awesome range for pages celebrating friendship.)

I took the opportunity to use some more stickers from the 'Furever Friends' Sticky Quote sheet, using the title and some of the word / quote stickers around my page. I also added some Bold Enamel Dots and Rainbow Heart stickers.

Alongside my photo on the left, I added a large ampersand cut from one of the 'Any Direction' Everyday Etc cards; a "rad" sticker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Sticky Quotes sheet; and the 'You Inspire Me' flair button (from set #417).

That's all from me today. If you haven't visited the Flutterby Designs store recently, head HERE to check out the newest goodies in store. There are new stencils and page kits that have been listed, so pop over and snap them up before they are all gone.
Until next time, happy scrapping! X

Stash-busting Traveler's Notebook Pages | Flutterby Designs

Hi everyone!
After being away on retreat last weekend and then playing catch up all week at home since my return, it's time to do some catching up here. Today I am sharing some recent design team work I created for Flutterby Designs.
To switch it up and keep things interesting for myself, I have recently begun working in a traveler's notebook. People use TN's in all sorts of ways, but I have stuck with the memory keeping format just like I use my scrapbook layouts for. I have found the smaller size great for a change, and perfect for documenting some of the photos from my phone that I wouldn't necessarily create a large layout for. It has also given me the chance to use up a lot of bits and pieces from my stash.

For my "Let's Pug It Out" page that I created to feature some silly photos of my daughter trying on animal masks in Kmart; I took the opportunity to use up an Everyday Etc card from the 'Furever Friends' collection for my title and the pug picture.

Other items on this page included 'Mad About You' Sticky Quotes; Photo Cut Out tabs; Blackboard Sticky Alphas; Rainbow Heart Stickers; and a Snippet Strip.
I also used some washi tape and a Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Cube from my stash.

For my "Box Head Fun" double page spread documenting a workshop my kids attended during the holidays; I used some 12x12" paper from the 'Happily Ever After' collection for the quote and also to fill space on my pages, but any Flutterby Everyday Etc Cards, would also be perfect for this purpose.

Again, I used a random assortment of items across these pages including left over stickers from the 'Xtreme Teen' and 'Good Vibes Only' Sticky Quotes sheets; Teal Sticky Alphas; and another Photo Cut Out tab. Again, I added some watercolour paint using a Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Cube.

For my "Netflix" themed page, I used one of the 'Good Vibes Only' Everyday Etc cards to create my title; and the watercolour feature underneath my journalling came from one of the coordinating filler cards. I also used the large icecream from the 'Good Vibes Only' Die Cut Bits & Bobs pack.

I finished off with an assortment of items - 'Happily Ever After' Sticky Quotes; die cut from the 'Mad About You' collection; and Rainbow Heart Stickers.
I also used washi tape from my stash and another Colour Shimmer Cube.

If you haven't tried working in a traveler's notebook yet, why not give it a go? It's often good for your creativity to change things up a bit, and this is a fabulous way to use up some of those left-overs in your stash. (To make way for new ones, of course!)
Until next time, happy scrapping! X

Happy Wife Happy Life | Flutterby Designs

Hi everyone!
Today I am sharing my latest design team project created for Flutterby Designs - a mixed media scrapbook page created using Flutter Colour paints and the recently released 'Happily Ever After' collection. It also features a photo of my hubby and I (taken on our twin boys first day of school earlier this year).

I began my page by creating my background. I was inspired by some of the multi-coloured patterns featured in the 'Happily Ever After' collection and wanted to make a background using the same colour palette. I used Flutter Colour paints - Aquamarine Dream; Tropicana Teal; Green Limousine; Yellow Zest; Raspberry Punch; and Grape Soda. To apply the paint I worked in layers, adding swipes of colour with an old gift card and drying them off in between. I used horizontal and vertical swipes to help add to the "randomness" of the design.

Over the top of the paint, I used the 'Happily Ever After' stencil, and applied some Colour Blast "Snow White" Colour Paste though it, which is lovely and subtle and perfect for backgrounds when you don't want the words or images overwhelming your page.
I also added some torn pieces of the rainbow heart washi tape from the kit; and splattered some Colour Blast 'Calypso' Colour Artist Ink around my page.

I chose the multi-coloured square that had inspired my background from the 'Blanket Thief' 12x12" patterned paper as a mat for my photo; then added some extra layers using Everyday Etc filler cards from the range and some paper doilies.

I wanted to add an extra layer to my page, but didn't want to overwhelm the paint or papers I had used; so I added some die cut suns that I cut from white cardstock using a die from Uniquely Creative. (I thought the suns worked well with the "happy" theme and the shape looked great layered over the painted background.)
I also added fussy cut geo heart that I tucked into my layers.

I then added my title, which I had fussy cut from one of the Everyday Etc cards from the collection and placed it above and below my photo. (The little hearts piece was fussy cut from another card.) The snookums die cut was one I had left over from the 'Mad About You' Die Cut Bits & Bobs pack, and it worked perfectly here. I also added a white Tiny Sticky Quote above it.

I decided my hearts needed balancing with a third heart element on the left of my page; so I chose a Charms Creations handmade heart to add a little texture to the page.

To finish it all off, I stamped the date and used a grey felt pen to add my handwritten journalling. (I usually use a black pen, but I felt that the black would have dominated the page too much, so went with the soft grey instead.)

That's all from me today. Don't forget that with the annual Flutterby Designs 'Create by the Lake' retreat on this weekend, that the online store is closed until Thursday 26th July.
For all those attending I hope you are having an awesome weekend! (I am shattered I am not there with you all and to support Neet this year, but am there in spirit.)
Until next time, happy scrapping! X

I Love You From My Head Tomatoes | Flutterby Designs

Hi Flutterby peeps!
Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. Today I have a 12x12" scrapbook layout to share that features the recently released 'Happily Ever After' collection and a snap of one of my boys and I that was taken at a party last year. (This particular one isn't fond of selfies with mum, so the fact that I got this pic was quite an achievement! haha)

For my layout I really wanted to use the cute I love you from my head tomatoes quote so I built my page design from there. I fussy cut the cute tomato and quote from the Everyday Etc card; and then pulled the gorgeous bright mixed media style cards from the Filler card pack to form a mat for my photo. (The background paper is from the 'You Rock' collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.)

On top of my photo mat, I added some strips of the XO washi tape from the May kit; then mounted my photo on some cardboard before adding it on top. I also added some cardboard to the back of the tomato and the quote, before adding them as well.

Tucked in behind my photo I added one of the 'Happily Ever After' Page Tabs. Using this particular page tab meant I needed to add something else to bring in more green, so I used a coordinating filler card and a punch to add some circles to my page. (I also wanted to tie in the circular shape of the tomato.)

To the left of my photo I added the selfie wood veneer, which I coloured black with a Sharpie. Below that I added the appreciate the moment Snippet Strip and above it, the cool sticker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Sticky Quote sheet.

Above my photo I added the asshole sticker from the 'Happily Ever After' Sticky Quote sheet (this sticker was perfect for this page, as being an asshole is one of this boy's specialties! hehe) I also added the you're my weirdo sticker from the same sheet at the bottom of my page.
To finish off my layout I added some Neon Enamel Dots and Rainbow Heart stickers; some splatters of Colour Blast 'Soot' Colour Artist Ink; and a few stamped phrases and date.

That's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by so I could share this. I will be back again soon with another project. Until then, happy scrapping! X

Blanket Thief | Flutterby Designs

Hi everyone! Time again to share another of my design team projects with you. Today I have a mixed media scrapbook page that I created for Flutterby Designs using the new 'Happily Ever After' collection and some Flutter Colour paints. (And of course, my super cute kitty too!)

I started this page by creating an abstract background using Flutter Colour paints. The colours I used were Tropicana Teal; Grape Soda; Green Limousine; Stormy Grey and Yellow Zest. I didn't work with any particular result in mind when I applied the paint, I simply followed my instinct. I used a combination of methods to apply it - smeared with an old gift card; applied with a brush; and also with my fingers.

Once the paint had dried, I applied some black ink using a sponge dauber through the 'Hugs and Kisses' stencil. I then took some of the 'Happily Ever After' Everday Etc filler cards and applied some cut and torn pieces to my background, before mounting my photos on top.

I used two of the 'Happily Ever After' Everyday Etc cards and fussy cut the large LOVE word and also the blanket thief phrase. I then used 'Teal' Sticky Alphas to add the word couch to my page.

I then added the XOXO sticker from the 'Happily Ever After' Sticky Quotes sheet; along with the life is good and cheeky bugger phrases from some of the Snippet Strips.
The final embellishment I added was the good vibes only flair button directly onto my photo, from the 'Good Vibes Only' flair button set #1.

To finish my page, I splattered a few drops of pink ink, plus added a few random scribbles and crosses using a pencil.

That's all from me today, thanks for stopping by so I could share this with you. I will be back again soon with another project.
Until then, happy scrapping! X

We Stick Together | Flutterby Designs

Hi everyone!
I am here today to share my latest Flutterby Designs project with you and my very first using the BRAND NEW 'Happily Ever After' collection! This range is so freakin' awesome - and right up my alley with it's gorgeous bright colours and a mix of sweet and sassy sentiments! If you haven't already got your hands on some of this... JUST. DO. IT.
(You can check out all the new goodies in the Flutterby shop HERE)

To create this layout I started with a fun photo of hubby and I taken at a 'Pimps & Hoes' fancy dress party last year and that STUNNING background paper - aptly named 'Love Potion', from the 'Happily Ever After' 12x12" paper pack. The pack contains 10 different sheets of patterned paper which are all printed on 200gsm paper, making them ideal for mixed media as well.

I used a variety of the Everyday Etc filler cards cut into various shapes and sizes to create a layered mat for my photo. (I so love the colour palette of this collection!) I then added some frayed gauze for a little soft texture before placing my photo on top.

I added two of the 'Happily Ever After' page tabs above my photo, which I just tucked in behind it.

I decided my page needed some extra details on the background, so I used the new 'Happily Ever After' stencil and some black Staz On ink to add the love you words and hearts. To do this, I simply masked off the areas around the section I wanted to use with some washi tape and then applied the ink using a sponge dauber.

Next, I turned my attention to my page title - reaching for my pack of Everyday Etc cards. I already knew EXACTLY which quote I wanted to use for my title because...well, why not? hehe I fussy cut it out and adhered it below my photo. (Hubby thought it was hilarious!)

After my title was down, I looked to add a few extra embellishments. (I didn't need a lot because the papers did most of the work on this page.) I wanted to create a little cluster on the horizontal strip to the right of my photo, so I added the I'm not sick of you yet sticker and the small purple heart sticker from the Sticky Quotes sheet.

I also added a handmade purple heart from Charms Creations; which I topped with the XOXO flair button from the 'Happily Ever After' set #1. I also added a few small torn pieces of the 'XO' washi tape that comes in the 'Happily Ever After' Kit (not available separately).

To finish off my page, I added a few splatters of white Flutter Colour paint (I watered it down slightly to make it easier to splatter); then stamped the date and a few phrases and I was done.

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I am sure you are dying to get your hands on the 'Happily Ever After' collection for yourself, so make sure you head to the shop HERE now to grab some!
Util next time, happy scrapping! X
