Scrap the Boys October challenge

It's been a rough week at our place this past week, so I am just playing catch up now.
I am sure many of you would have already seen the challenge at Scrap the Boys for this month - the theme is "Technology Savvy" (think iPads, phones, X Box, etc). Whilst my boys are both already clearly suckers for technology (they climb up and tap dance on my computer keyboard every time I turn my back), I immediately thought of a photo I had taken of one of them with his dad a while ago...

{Papers and embellishments from the 'Be Different' collection by Fancy Pants}

As you can see, I went with a clean, graphic style for this layout, as I thought it suited the theme better. The Fancy Pants papers I had from Wild About Scrap were perfect for it! Most of the embellishments were from the same range. I added machine stitching for some extra subtle texture & dimension.

{Flair from Flutterby Designs}

I tried SO hard to keep this page clean, but just HAD to add a few flicks of mist at the end...

{Fancy Pants 'Be Different' ticket roll tickets}

I hope you get a chance to play along with us this month. (I am sure everyone has at least one "tech" photo of a male in their life these days.) This month there are THREE prizes up for grabs for participants, so definitely worth playing for! :)

Off the Rails September Challenge!

Back again with another challenge share for you, this time it's for the Off the Rails September challenge, which is a gorgeous mood palette designed by Fiona Paltridge.
Here is the palette...

And here is my take on it...

{Papers by Graphic 45 & Teresa Collins; Alphas by American Crafts
Published Scrapbooking Memories - Vol 17 No 12}

I was inspired by a number of elements from this palette. I love that it had me create this layout using a colour combo I would not necessarily have used otherwise. I was also drawn to the gold glitter, and incorporated that by die cutting some shapes from gold glittered cardstock - including feathers, another featured element of the palette.

{Dies & cardstock both by American Crafts; assorted flowers from D-lish Scraps}

I also created my own custom glittery gold background using a stencil, texture paste and loose glitter. I simply sprinkled the glitter onto the texture paste whilst still wet, then shook off the excess once dry.

{Flair button from D-lish Scraps}

{Prima feature bloom from Wild About Scrap; gold butterfly coming soon to Lovelybug bits n Bobs!}

The final element I took inspiration from was the theme of the palette and the quote "free yourself". I put my spin on it by using these pics of my daughter behind a wire fence, and some personal journaling to her about how I hope she is always free to be herself. (I used a gold gel pen for my journaling, so it doesn't overshadow the layout composition, but still fits the colour scheme.)

I do hope you will try this beautiful palette, and I hope you find it as inspiring as I did! Don't forget to link your layouts up to the Off the Rails blog HERE before the end of the month. Happy scrapping! X

Off the Rails - Palette Challenge!

Just a quick share from me today, showing you an Off the Page item (I know, don't keel over from shock!) that I created as my sample for this month's challenge at Off the Rails. This month there is a gorgeous colour palette for inspiration and it led me to create this...

As soon as I saw the palette, I immediately thought of the 'Fancy Pants - Be Different' papers I recently received from Wild About Scrap. Those cute little monsters on the 'Be Different - Monsters' papers were just begging to be fussy cut, so I decided to create a sign for my boys' bedroom door with them. (The base of this sign was actually from the side of an old cardboard box!)

Make sure you pop over to the Off the Rails blog HERE (where there have been some exciting changes!) to see the colour palette that inspired me, and for more creations from the DT. There's a fabulous prize pack up for grabs from our very own DT member Rachael Funnell for this challenge. I do hope you will join us, I would love to see what YOU create! X

Prima Princess for Wild About Scrap

Going all pretty & girly today! I received some of the Prima Marketing 'Princess' collection to use from Wild About Scrap, which is so beautifully soft & feminine. I also had this photo (which was the best of a bad bunch - someone is ALWAYS looking away! hehe), that was taken of the kids and I recently on Mothers Day.

I was inspired by the colour palette featured in June's Prima Product Picks for this layout. Despite the fact it features the 'Something Blue' collection, I thought it was perfect for my 'Princess' based project.

Here is this month's PPP...

Here are some close-ups...

{More Prima & Kaisercraft flowers, also D-lish Scraps Bitty Blooms}

{Chippie heart button from Burdy's EmbelliesPrima Mixed Media Doll Metal Embellishments from WAS}

If you love gorgeous & girly, then I highly recommend the Prima Marketing 'Princess' collection. I am looking forward to creating with this one again!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Don't forget to let me know you were here so I can return the favour! X

Fancy Pants for Wild About Scrap

Hi everyone!
I'm here today sharing a layout I recently completed for Wild About Scrap using the Fancy Pants 'Be Different' range, which is full of bold patterns, cute monsters and is PERFECT for scrapping boys!

Given that this range is full of boyish goodness, I turned to one of my favourite scrappers, Kim Jeffress, for a bit of boy inspiration. Kim has a fantastic graphic style and often uses bold patterns very successfully in her projects, so I was hoping I wouldn't go wrong if I used a similar style. This was quite a departure from my recent creations, and I am happy with the result. (I am also happy with the fact it took a LOT less time to complete!)

I love all the cool elements in the 'Be Different - Ephemera Pack', and embellished most of my layout using them...

I also added tickets from the 'Be Different - Ticket Roll'...

The little chipboard star button is from the 'Be Different - Button Pack'. And how cute is that little monster? He is also from the ephemera pack.

The Fancy Pants 'Be Different' range is currently available from Wild About Scrap, but you will have to be quick before it is all gone! You can make sure you are keeping up to date with all the latest arrivals in store via the WAS Facebook page HERE. (And don't forget to enter the current give away there too - there is a prize pack worth over $50 up for grabs!)
Happy scrapping! X

Bo Bunny for Wild About Scrap

Back again to share my latest projects for Wild About Scrap. These layouts were created using Bo Bunny's Head Over Heels range, which features a delicious pink / red / black / white colour palette. For this first layout I decided to focus on the pink, as it's been a while since I indulged in some pinkness!

I decided to let loose a bit on this layout, and used many more flowers than I normally would. Usually, I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my flowers. *sigh* What I wouldn't give to have a huge pile of beautiful flowers at my disposal - I would scrap like this all the time as I SO love the end result! (Sometimes it sucks to have to be frugal - AKA Tight Ass! hehe) The flowers are a mix of Manor House Creations, Kaisercraft, Green Tara and probably a few other assorted ones I have forgotten.

Lots of layers, textures and little details on this layout...

For more close-ups of this layout and an explanation of my creative process, see my post on the Wild About Scrap DT blog HERE

My second layout was created in basically the same manner as my first. Once again, I used Bo Bunny's Head Over Heels range, and lots of flowers...

And some of the details...

I hope I have inspired you to do a little scrapping yourself! Before you do, why don't you pop over to the Wild About Scrap store HERE and grab yourself a bargain. It's Wild About Scrap's birthday, so you get the present - 20% off until 30th April. Shop til you drop! X

Back on deck for Wild About Scrap!

Don't pretend I am the only one who hasn't scrapped all their Christmas photos yet!
Now the kids are back at school and normal life has resumed, it is the perfect time to get those Christmas pics done! The best part about doing it now, is most Christmas themed supplies are on sale and you can grab a bargain. (See what is available in the Wild About Scrap store HERE.)

For my layout, I used Bo Bunny's Elf Magic range, which is full of gorgeous colours and cute embellishments...

I couldn't help myself but use a messy, mixed media style background for this layout. I just love the process of all the layering (and getting my hands dirty!)

I also couldn't help but sneak a bit of Lovelybug Bits n Bobs goodness onto it (isn't he cute?)...

For more close-ups, and an explanation of my process for creating this layout, see my post on the Wild About Scrap DT Blog HERE

Happy New Year!

Happy new year to all! It's shaping up to be a busy start to my scrap year and I have a few things to share, so please bear with me...

*** Firstly, I am VERY pleased to announce I have re-joined the Design Team at Wild About Scrap. For those who have been following my journey, you will remember my term with WAS was interrupted with the premature arrival of my boys. Now that I have FINALLY started to get my scrap on again, Veronica has graciously accepted me back on the team. Look out for some Wild About Scrap projects coming soon!

*** Secondly, I am also pleased to announce that I have joined the Design Team for Show Us Your Stuff. SUYS has recently changed hands, and is now being managed by my darling friend Vicki (who also owns Scrapbooking Top 50 and Burdy's Handmade)...she knew I couldn't say no to her! hehe I am thrilled to be working alongside some awesome creative peeps too!

For anyone that doesn't already know, Show Us your Stuff is a challenge blog devoted to showcasing all things HANDMADE via monthly challenges. If you love to use handmade items (they don't have to be made by you!) on your layouts / cards / OTPs, then be sure to check it out! The January challenge is this mood board...

I took my inspiration from the fireworks (but put a twist on it), the date (the date my photo was taken, which I included on the LO) and (obviously) the bright colours. Here is my take on the challenge...

{Layout published in Scrapbooking Memories Vol 17 No 1}

For my handmade items I included a lollipop flower from Burdy's Handmade, and a fabric button & felt flower from my own Lovelybug Bits n Bobs...

*** I will also be continuing as a DT member for Off The Rails Scrapbooking - an Aussie challenge blog featuring an international DT, fortnightly challenges & awesome prizes. Entry to the challenges is open to traditional layouts (paper / digi / hybrid); cards; mixed media art or OTP projects, as long as they fit the challenge criteria.

The current challenge at Off the Rails is HEIGHT - add dimension to your project. I decided to create a card (as I needed one for my nephew's birthday) and I don't tend to do cards very often. Here's what I came up with...

(No close-ups sorry, my camera went flat.)
I added dimension to my card by layering the elements using foam mounting tape. I also created the illusion of extra dimension by adding borders to each of the elements.

*** Last, but not least, don't forget to enter my Quote Challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50 this month. Not only am I the guest DT for this challenge, but my own Lovelybug Bits n Bobs is the sponsor too!

If you have stuck with me to the end of this post, thank you! I hope to see you joining in on the challenges I have mentioned and I look forward to sharing more creations with you soon!

Latest Creation!

I didn't expect to be posting again so soon, but my goodies from Wild About Scrap were just too hard to resist! This layout was created using paper and embellishments from the Fancy Pants "Childish Things" range...

I actually started this LO with the "Childish Things - Glitter Cuts" in mind, as I LOVE using transparencies (especially ones that sparkle, it turns out!) These gorgeous glittered die cuts come on an 8 x 8" sheet and look even better in the flesh. Again, I used some "Prima Garden Picks - Small Butterflies" as I just love these too...

The yoyo flower is from Burdy's Embellies and the gorgeous ladybug is from My Little Bit of Whimsy (you will note a couple of my other permanent faves too - paper doiley and paint!)...

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and left me some love lately - your comments (and congratulations) are very much appreciated! XXX

First LO for Wild About Scrap!

Well I did it! I finally found time to have a play with my gorgeous Wild About Scrap DT kit that has been sitting here calling my name. Having not scrapped for a little while, I felt a bit lost at first, but that first cut into the paper sorted me out!

Here's my layout...

I created this LO using pps from the Fancy Pants "Be You" range - which is bright, happy and full of colour...right up my alley! The title was created using a "Tim Holtz Texture Fades - Valentine Background and Borders" embossing folder set along with some "Core'dinations Cut & Emboss Gemstones" cardstock (these are the PERFECT size for use in embossing folders!)

The large flowers, are from the "Prima - Dollhouse Collection - Tuesday" and the butterflies are "Prima - Garden Picks - Small Butterflies" which I attached simply using staples for a bit of contrast.

For a more detailed explanation on how I created this LO, or to see the work from the other Wild About Scrap Designers, pop over to the WAS Blog HERE

There's been LOTS happening!

I know I have been absent recently, but I have very good reason(s)! Firstly, the "illness" that hit me a little while ago, turned out to not be an illness at all, but instead we were told we are expecting twins later in the year...yes, TWINS! Hot on the heels of that news came moving house (couldn't have come at a better time in hindsight! LOL), a blown up computer, a trip away, mum in hospital, Easter, houseguests, DD's 4th birthday...am I forgiven now for not scrapping or blogging? ;-)

Now onto my exciting scrappy news...I have recently been appointed to the first ever design team for Wild About Scrap!!! I am very excited at being selected to represent WAS along with my fellow DT girls Sharon and Sue (yep, there's 2 Sue's!) and I am just getting stuck into my new DT kit now things are settling down for me. In the meantime, be sure to pop over and "follow" the new Wild About Scrap blog HERE, and for those on Facebook, "like" the Wild About Scrap FB page HERE for your chance to win.

I'll be back to share my first Wild About Scrap creations with you soon! XXX
