Scrapability March Sketch!

Just thought I would share the LO I have created using the March sketch for Scrapability Sketches. If you would like to see Bek's sketch, or have a go at it yourself, pop over to Scrapability and say hi to all the girls, they are a very friendly (and talented) bunch! Here is my take on the sketch using some of the new Sassafras Lass "Nerdy Bird" papers...bright and yummy!

Cyber Crop Layouts!

This week I have spent most of my scrapping time (which has been limited due to a sick DD) working on the challenges for the Scrapbooking Top 50 "4 Seasons in 6 Days" Cyber Crop. This first LO was for Vicki's "Got a Chill?" challenge. For this challenge we had to use the colour palette provided, a "wintery" picture, spots & stripes and a snowflake. (I actually scrapped this one in 8.5 x 11" as I enjoyed my recent foray into this size so much.)

The next one I completed was for the "Extreme Spring" Challenge which was set by our guest DT member, Chantal. This challenge had a pretty "extreme" set of criteria - besides using the colour palette provided, we also had to have a spring theme to our LO, include a flower embellishment, at least 3 pics, use embroidery thread (but not for stitching), use at least 3 eyelets and 3 buttons, include stamping, bling and as an extra criteria, include a bug embellishment! Here is what I came up with...

The last one I completed was for the "Seasons with Reasons" challenge, where everyone selected 4 images that were secretly representative of different criteria. One of the members selected mine for me (as I was the one who set the criteria) and I ended up with use black, white and only one other colour, use paint or ink on the background, insect embellishment and a non-scrap item. I was pretty happy with the ones I got, as they seemed to fit well with my current style. Here's my LO, (the non-scrap item is the large velvet leaf I had floating around in my craft box - who knows where it came from!)...

My first publication!!!

This week I received some exciting news - my first publication acceptance!!! Scrapbook Creations has accepted one of my cards for the card gallery in an upcoming issue (no. 80). I am very excited, but at the same time I found it quite funny, as I don't consider cards my forte at all. (I only subbed it as an after-thought.) It's a start though, so hopefully I will crack them for a LO soon! ;-)

A Couple of Challenge LO's...

I have managed to complete a couple of challenges over the last few days, the first was for the Scrap the Girls March challenge. The challenge was to be inspired by a picture taken from the 'Sex in the City' movie, and to also include the word 'friend' in the title. I was inspired by not only the friendship theme of the picture, but also by Samantha's red outfit, as it reminded me of my fave red leather jacket (which I am wearing in this pic taken with my friend Rayles)...

The second layout I completed was for the Whats Old Is New 'Year in Review' Challenge. Each month we have to complete a layout about something we did that month and include journalling and a calendar on the page. The subject of my Feb LO is a morning tea Brielle and I went to with our Mum's Group. The pic is of all the kids together, our little 'gang'. (I just LOVE the little Scrapware chipboard fence, these are available at my2angels.)

Something different...

Something different this week - I scrapped a LO that was 8.5 X 11", which I have never done before and I really enjoyed it! It was nice to work with something that was a bit out of my comfort zone and it gives a whole new perspective to the LO. The LO was created for the Scrapability Sketches 'Scrap Soup' comp which is currently running. The criteria was not only to scrap 8.5 X 11", but we had to use Kraft (yay!), bling or pearls, transparency or shiny embellie, rub-ons, flowers or other round embellies. GREAT criteria, and I am really happy with how this came out...

Check out the CC Challenges!

If you haven't already done so, make sure you stop by and check out the challenges for Scrapbooking Top 50's "4 Seasons in 6 Days" CC! There are prizes up for grabs for every challenge, as well as daily product giveaways (all you have to do to be in the running is post an answer!). So far 3 challenges have been posted, with 3 still to come. I posted my challenge up late last night, and mine is an "Autumn" challenge. As well as providing an Autumn-themed colour palette, the LO has to include leaves, chipboard and a one word title. Here is the LO I created using my fabulous kit supplied by Tracy at my2angels...

Not much scrapping...

Well its been a hectic start to the month here, after being away for most of last week and then this week  Brielle has been a bit under the weather. (A bug she caught from her cousin last week.) Having said all that, I haven't scrapped much this month (but will hopefully make up for it in the next week or two!) Here is one layout I did manage to complete, for Kathie's Monthly Challenge at SBT50. The criteria were to use 5 pps, 4 buttons, 3 cut-outs, 2 word title, 1 pic, 1 piece felt, 1 piece cs, use one of the pps as a photo corner and include inking & distressing! (Phew!) This criteria was crying out to me for a dose of my "girly grunge" style, so here it is...

New Monthly Challenges!

1st of the month means new challenges are springing up all over the place and Scrapbooking Top 50 is no exception! The new monthly challenges from the DT have been posted and I think everyone is certainly going to be challenged this month! ;-)  Be sure to check them out HERE

I think my challenge is simple enough though - a scraplift! I have created a LO especially for our members to "lift" this month, with the added criteria of including a quote and also at least 2 elements visible on my LO. I am pretty happy with how this LO came out, and the pic isn't too bad considering it's a "selfie"! LOL

A HUGE Month!

I had a HUGE month of scrapping in February...17 LO's, 1 card and 2 sets of embellishments for swaps! (Not bad considering it was such a short month!) Here's another couple of layouts that I completed...

This one was for the What Is Old Is New sketch challenge. I actually used a lot of left-overs I still had out from a previous layout for this one. I just adore this pic I took of Brielle - I really love candid shots!

The next LO was one I completed for a blind scrap hosted by Julie, who was SBT50's Feb Guest DT member. Julie's instructions were super simple to follow and I am so happy with the result I got. I love the fact that Julie's instructions allowed for enough scope for everyone to make each LO to their own style. Thanks for the challenge Julie! X
