Scrap the Girls!

YAY! I finally managed to get my May Scrap the Girls entry finished yesterday! (Just in the nick of time...phew!) This month's criteria was to scrap a layout based on an important female in your life (of course, I scrapped my daughter) and to include at least 20 words of handwritten journalling.
Here is my layout...

I used My Minds Eye 'Alphabet Soup' pps & chipboard elements for this LO, a paper doiley (of course, LOL) which I coloured using 'Key Lime Pie' glimmermist; and American Crafts 'Rainboots' and 'Sunrise' Thickers. I love this pic of us that was taken on Mothers Day and thought it would make the perfect subject for this challenge as I wanted to record some of the details from the day...

Here you can see a yummy My Little Bit of Whimsy textured button tied with 'Honeydew' bakers twine; Green Tara mini flowers, Little Yellow Bicycle chipboard flower; MME owls and the fabric strip was stiffened and shaped using Ribbon Stiff. (If you haven't tried Ribbon Stiff yet, you should definitely give it a try! Stay tuned for more ideas, as I will be doing a feature for Handmade By Suzanne shortly!)

A Top 50 challenge...and MORE Echo Park!

I know I said I didn't have too much left from my Echo Park 'Summer Days' kit, but I did manage another LO anyway...LOL This one was for Vicki's May Monthly Challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50. The criteria for the challenge were to use song lyrics from a song that is meaningful to the person in the pics as the title; misting in more than one colour; and fussy cutting.
Here's my LO...

I chose 'Dorothy the Dinosaur' as my song, as Brielle just looooves Dorothy. The different coloured mists are all there, even if they are a little hard to see in the pic - I used 'Polka Dot pink' chalkboard glimmermist on the paper doiley, 'Key Lime Pie' on the Kraft cardstock, then flicked 'Jazz Blue' around. I fussy cut the scallops from a sheet of EP pp.

For the embellishments I used gorgeous Websters Trendsetter green fashion trim; Lime Tree Creations crochet flower; Burdy's Embellies yoyo flowers & chippie heart button; and even the tag from the PJs...

I had a little play with my blog margins last night so that I could post larger pics of my 8.5" layouts - what do you think of the bigger size photos? Better or worse?

Show Us Your Stuff!

As Lovelybug Bits n Bobs is sponsoring during May at Show Us Your Stuff, I thought I should play along with one of this month's challenges. If you haven't played along before, then pop over and have a go! (These days everyone is bound to have some handmade embellishments in their stash.) May challenge #1 was to create something using ribbon / trim / lace, and of course, a handmade item.
Here's my take on it...

I used gorgeous Websters Trendsetter pink ruffle trim to make the little rosettes, and added some extra ribbon in my embellishment cluster. I also included a handmade cupcake button from My Little Bit of Whimsy; Kaisercraft 'Bubblegum Hills' chipboard pieces, a hand-dyed crochet doiley and a paper doiley coloured with chalkboard glimmermist. The pp and journal card are both Echo Park 'Summer Days' (there's not much left on my desk now...LOL) from Handmade By Suzanne.

Speaking of Handmade By Suzanne - have you entered the May sketch challenge yet? There's just over a week left to get your entry in with a $30 store voucher (plus free post) up for grabs! Click HERE for the sketch. :-)

White With 1!

Although orange has never really been my fave colour to scrap with, we have become more friendly over the last year, so this month's challenge at White With 1 managed to tempt me into playing along. The criteria for this month is white + orange + scallops.
Here's my take on it...

And yes, in case you were wondering, the pp & small alphas are Echo Park 'Summer Days' again...LOL (There's also a smidgen of Kaisercraft 'Bubblegum Hills' on there too!) The Burdy's Embellies chipboard bookprint heart button (which I just can't get enough of right now), has been coloured using 'Tiger Lily' glimmermist. A couple of my other staples of late have been the paper doilies and bakers twine...isn't it funny how you have a run of favourite things to use? Thanks for stopping by! X

A 'Fairy Tales' CC Chall!

I warned you there would be more Echo Park (and this still isn't the last of it...LOL) The next LO I completed was for Ant's 'Fairy Tale' Challenge for the Scrapbooking Top 50 May 'Fairy Tales' CC. Ant's criteria were to create a LO using a fairy tale as the title; a photo not normal shape / dimensions (I cut mine down to be squarer) and bling!
Here's my LO...

I used Echo Park 'Summer Days' pps, alphas, journal card & chipboard stickers for this LO. I also made a flower from some gorgeous Websters Trendsetter pink ruffle trim to match the flower that was on Brielle's headband & top in the photo and the yummy blue tape is MT masking tape - all available at Handmade By Suzanne, of course! The fabric button is one I made and the balloon embellie is from a swap.

Don't forget if you would like the chance to win a $20 store voucher (plus free post) to spend at Handmade By Suzanne, then pop over to the Scrapbooking Top 50 forum and complete my 'Frog Prince' CC challenge! Entries are open until midnight Sunday and you are more than welcome to complete as many (or few) challs as you wish (just make sure you at least do mine! LOL) It's an EASY challenge that can suit anyone, I promise! You can see all the chall details in my earlier post HERE

OMG...it's an Echo Park DOUBLE!!!

That's right, don't adjust your screen - I actually scrapped a double layout!!! (Don't worry, I shocked the hell out of myself too! LOL Apologies in advance for this long post, there's lots to show!) This LO was created for Ant's May Monthly Challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50, which is to scrap a LO using paper piecing in a quilt type design, bling and stitching. I pulled out all the stops and used my Echo Park 'Summer Days' kit from Handmade By Suzanne and am pretty happy with the result...

I used soooo many bits & pieces on this LO - the main elements being the Echo Park pps, chipboard stickers, alphas & journal card...

Lovelybug Bits n Bobs 'Ballerina' button...

Burdy's Handmade Embellies chipboard heart button (which I coloured with chalkboard glimmermist)...

Charm's Creations lollipop flower, Kaisercraft mini crochet doiley, Treens Trinkets bird pin...

Gorgeous Websters Trendsetter Green Fashion trim, bakers twine, pearls and even the label from the pp...

I've got more Echo Park to share, but think I'll leave it at that for today as my patience is all used up from uploading all those pics...LOL

I sooooo love Echo Park!

I decided my Echo Park 'Summer Days' kit from Handmade By Suzanne would be perfect to play along with Challenge # 4 this month at Scraptivations, which was to include a handmade embellishment. Here is my layout...

For my handmade embellishment I created my own ferris wheel, using bakers twine (I used Ribbon Stiff to mould it into shape), Echo Park paper, rhinestones and a button. Pretty simple, but I think it adds a bit of fun & dimension to the LO, don't you?

Other products used on this LO include the Echo Park chipboard stickers & journal card and American Crafts Thickers (Sunrise - Limeade). My only regret with this layout is that I don't have a better camera to take clearer pics of it! :-(

Stay tuned - more Echo Park to come! :-)

HBS May Sketch Challenge!

Next in my catch-up is the May sketch challenge from Handmade By Suzanne. Again, it has been designed by our resident sketch master, Michelle Fowler...

And here is my take on it (yes, I fiddled with it a bit! LOL)...

I used the same MME range of pps I used for the previous LO for this one; a Lovelybug Bits n Bobs fabric button; My Little Bit of Whimsy textured button; a very cute felt caterpillar I had in my stash; and some gorgeous Hambly Screen Prints 'Garden Party' transparency layered over the paper doilies. The doilies themselves were coloured using 'Polka Dot Pink' Chalkboard Glimmermist...how awesome is the colour?! I looooove the chalkboard mists! (If you haven't tried them yet, you MUST!)

Entries for this sketch challenge close midnight, 31st May and the lucky winner (randomly drawn) will receive a $30 store voucher PLUS free post! (You can buy sooooo much with that!) You can visit the gallery HERE to see what the other members of the DT have done with the sketch.

My Monthly Challenge!

Although I am still experiencing some technical issues, I am trying to catch up on what I can, so finally have some actual scrapping to share! *gasp* First up, my May Monthly Challenge for Scrapbooking Top 50. This month I decided on a product challenge - 'doilies'. (Largely due to my own recent obsession with them...LOL)
Here is my layout...

Besides using doilies, the additional criteria for this challenge are to include the colour blue and staples. I love this pic I scrapped of Vicki & I from my recent (surprise) trip to Mount Gambier for her birthday. This was shortly before we left for the airport...BEFORE we started crying! LOL

I used My Minds Eye 'Quite Contrary - Mary, Mary' & also some Jillibean Soup 'Blossom Soup' pps (left from last month's DT kit from Handmade By Suzanne); doilies (of course), which I coloured using glimmermists; Thickers - my old fave 'Patchwork' & 'Sunrise - Limeade'; one of the new Lovelybug Bits n Bobs Vintage Rim buttons and a chipboard heart button from Burdy's Handmade Embellies.
